Welcome to fourth grade in room 17. I'm looking forward to an exciting year together!
This page is a little glance into my life....
I was born and raised in Bend, OR.
I graduated from
in 1996 with a degree in Sociology. I'm a die hard Duck fan, and was (I think) the 16th member of my family to graduate from Oregon. I married Shane (a high school friend) in February of 1997. We added, to our family, a black Lab named Bruiser, and we loved our boy.
I worked for a friend in Eugene for a few of years before deciding to return to school to earn my MAT from
I've always loved working with kids and, as it turns out, teaching is just what I was meant to do.
I love summer, and being a teacher allows me the time for adventures like this:
In January of 2005, we unexpectedly lost our boy, Bruiser, and we were devastated.
Then, this little guy came along.....
.....and we named him Grunden.
We spoiled him rotten.
Shane and I have always worked hard, and we love to play. We both love our jobs. I've taught third, fourth and fifth grades since 2000 and Shane takes people fishing for a living. Our lives were complete.
(or, so we thought.)
In April of 2006 we were thrilled to learn we were expecting a baby girl.
That year I looked like this....
Then, while in Bend for Thanksgiving 2006, Libby surprised us with an early arrival.
A year-and-a-half later, Peyton joined our family. At that time, I took to my computer as a way to keep in touch with my family on the other side of the mountain.
Grunden officially took a back seat. Still, we love him more than most families love a dog. We can't help ourselves.
I'm now a Howard parent myself. My girls are in first and second grades this year.
Over the years we've spent a lot of time acting silly....
When I have free time, I use this...
...to make things like this...
...and this...
But, my sewing machine and I have a bit of a love/hate relationship. I'm a better teacher than a professional seamstress.
While I still seek adventure, these days it's on a somewhat smaller scale.
Whatever we're doing, we're happy to be doing it together.
